Center for Extracorporeal Life Support and Patient Safety Certified by ELSO
We are happy to share that the University Center for Extracorporeal Life Support and Patient Safety, established in our Medical Simulation Center in 2019 and administered by PUMS Department of Cardiosurgery and Transplantology, has been officially certified as an ECMO training center by the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO).
The 3-year certificate places our Center in the elite group of only 10 other units in the world offering ELSO-endorsed courses in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) (https://www.elso.org/ecmo-education/elsoendorsedcourses.aspx).
The PUMS Center was created thanks to the funding by the EU Social Fund within the POWER program for 2018-2021 for post-graduate education of medical doctors. As of today, 357 doctors from all over Poland have completed the ECMO course offered at our University (ELSO-Endorsed Comprehensive Course) and we are looking forward to working with many more in the future.
