Dear Friends, Alumni, and Students,

We hereby invite you to join the Doctoral School of Poznan University of Medical Sciences! PUMS Doctoral School has received funding for the project "Towards unmet clinical and educational needs at PUMS" submitted within the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) STER Program - Internationalization of doctoral schools.

The project named PUMSTER was implemented on the 4th of January this year by our Doctoral School team. The funds granted to PUMS amount to 1,996,290 PLN which, when combined with the University's own funding, totals 2,218,000 PLN. Obtaining financing is a great success for our University - the awarded project was among the best 12 selected from 34 submitted by Polish universities and institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences. We emphasize with great satisfaction that we are the only medical university awarded funding in this program.

The project's goal is the systemic support for internationalization of our Doctoral School in several areas. Primarily: quality improvement of education and research, and increase of international mobility among doctoral students. PUMSTER will facilitate development of long-term international cooperation in the field of education, science, clinical trials, and broadly understood partnership, also with the industry. Thanks to PUMSTER, we can attract doctoral students and supervisors from abroad and pay scholarships to PhD students implementing doctoral projects in international cooperation. We will also be able to implement international research projects more effectively.

As part of this project, starting from April 1 we will have the opportunity to invite 6 international candidates who, after passing the qualification procedure and presenting their research plans, will become full-fledged PhD students of our internationalized Doctoral School. Therefore, I would like to invite our university graduates and final year students to apply to become PhD candidates. I would also like to invite potential supervisors who, together with PUMS supervisors, will mentor these PhD candidates.
We will be recruiting additional 18 PhD candidates (both Polish and international students) during the summer months of 2021. They will also study in our Doctoral School in English and carry out their doctoral dissertations while being mentored by pairs of supervisors (one from PUMS and one international).

Soon after the approval of the relevant documents by the University Senate, we will present further information to those interested in our initiative. However, due to the short time available for recruitment, we would like to get you interested in this project as soon as possible. We want to be able to invite young adepts to scientific cooperation within PUMSTER. We remain with hope and conviction to organize a doctoral school where excellent PhD students will be supervised by the best scientists and educators from our University and other world-renowned research units, in full accordance with the title of our project "Towards unmet clinical and educational needs at PUMS".
